No doubt you will have been watching the news about whether outdoor sport will be able to continue during the lockdown. Very sadly, and in spite of the efforts of the LTA, it is highly likely that tennis will not be permitted. Unless there is further news later today the club will therefore close from the end of today, Wednesday 4th November. Following our experience of the previous lockdown the gates will be locked and nets taken down. We will re-open December 2nd, subject of course to any further changes from the government, and will use this period to carry out some essential maintenance work around the club.
Please also note the following:
Can we remind you of the booking rules: please book only one slot per singles pair or doubles four at peak times (after 6pm weekdays, and all day Saturday/Sunday). There is high demand for courts and we need to enable as many members as possible to play.
We will update on implications of the lockdown on Surrey team matches when we have further information. Box Leagues will resume when we re-open, please look out for the new deadlines on the leagues page of Mycourts.
We have decided to put a temporary pause on new membership. We have seen a large and very welcome increase in new members since we re-opened over the summer, taking us to around 650 tennis members. This is a healthy position for the club to be in, but we need to ensure that we can continue to meet the demand for play from all constituencies of the club. We will review this position early in the New Year.
Thank you to all members who completed the recent survey. We had a high response rate and really helpful feedback, and the overall results show an extremely positive view of the club. We will now take some time to fully analyse the responses and will report back to you as soon as we can.
Best wishes, and we hope to see you all in December.
